Here are my 3 nutrition tips that you can follow during weekend to stay happy, healthy and hearty:
1. Moderation and variety – Eating in moderation is a fundamental principle for staying healthy. Enjoy all food groups and build a healthy relationship with food. Do not deprive yourself with a particular food. When you go to parties, enjoy your favourite food in moderation and this will also help to add variety in your meals over the weekend.
2. Stay Mindful – Be mindful of portion sizes and avoid overeating. Use smaller plates, share dishes at restaurants, and refrain from going back for seconds unless genuinely hungry. A good thumb rule is stop eating when you feel 80% full.
3. Meal preparation – Planning your own meals will allow you to see how much you’re actually eating. This also prevents you from overeating at restaurants, which tend to serve at times a bigger portion than you should actually be eating. Allow two hours on the weekend to shop, cook and portion out meals.
